Rotted decking needs replacement
After we removed the original roof shingles, pulled back the remaining underlayment, we found water-damaged decking. The wood was so rotted, it was like a sponge.
Storm damaged shingles
The asphalt was starting to dry rot and separate, allowing water to penetrate through the underlayment and destroying the decking. This was all found once we were able to remove the original roof.
