Air Sealing and Insulating your Home

When looking at your home, the top is like your head where you lose most of your heat in the winter.  The solution:  put a hat on it.  You can't really put a hat on your house, but you can seal top the top plate in the attic.  This stops air movement and along with it keeps the heat (or cool air from your air conditioner) where it belongs...in your home..not flowing out of it.

Fiberglass insulation only works in dead air spaces.  Which means there is no air movement.  We've all seen dirty insulation that is removed from walls.  Why does it get dirty?  It is all because of the air movement in our homes and walls.  The air is being pulled out of warm homes to the cooler attic and outdoors.

The solution is to stop or at least diminish the air movement.  Taking small steps can lead to a big difference in the comfort of your home as well as some energy savings too.
